Ceramics

Personal Work, 2018-2020

Gay has worked in ceramics off and on since the 1960’s, when she attended UC Berkeley for her MFA. She was there when legends such as Pete Voulkos, Ron Nagle, Jim Melchert and Marilyn Levine were either teaching and/or producing their epic works of art. These artists have had a profound influence on Gay and her art.

The interchanging between painting, photography, and ceramics took Gay through decades of producing art, but she has landed back with ceramics and is here to stay.  “I am totally obsessed with clay and glazes and how expressive they can be!”, says Gay in her LA home studio.  “There are so many things to explore and learn and I feel like I am finally at home again with ceramics.”
